Kimberlee Bethany Bonura, Ph.D., Registered Yoga Teacher, Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Group Fitness Instructor, provides a full spectrum of yoga, fitness, and wellness consulting services. Dr. Bonura specializes in developing personally tailored plans to promote your well-being and meet your wellness goals. Dr. Bonura’s combined backgrounds in academic research; yoga, fitness, and wellness instruction and consulting; corporate program management and team leadership; and program evaluation provide a unique perspective that allows her to provide comprehensive wellness promotion and performance enhancement services.
Dr. Kimberlee Bethany Bonura is a fitness and wellness educator with decades of experience teaching the benefits of physical and mental health to elite athletes, higher education institutions, nonprofit community organizations, and corporations. She earned her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology, with a research emphasis in sport and exercise psychology, from Florida State University. Her doctoral dissertation, The Impact of Yoga on Psychological Health in Older Adults, won national awards from the American Psychological Association (Division 47) and the Association for Applied Sport Psychology.
Dr. Bonura is a triple-certified yoga instructor, registered with the Yoga Alliance and a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists. She also holds certifications as an anger management instructor, personal trainer, group fitness instructor, Pilates instructor, kickboxing instructor, tai chi and qigong instructor, senior fitness specialist, weight management instructor, and prenatal and youth fitness specialist. She has developed specialized programs in seated/chair yoga for older adults; yoga for empowerment to encourage self-esteem; partner yoga for family and marital enhancement; and more.
Featured widely in national and international publications, Dr. Bonura is a peer reviewer for journals including the Journal of Aging and Physical Activity, The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, and the Journal of Sport & Exercise Psychology, and for conferences including the American Psychological Association annual conference and the American Educational Research Association annual conference. She currently serves on the editorial board of the International Journal of Yoga Therapy and the Journal of Social Change, and as a committee member for the Association of Applied Sport Psychology. Dr. Bonura is a professor for The Great Courses, developing continuing education programs focusing on health and wellness. She served as editor-in-chief of the Yoga Alliance newsletter Yoga Matters from 2002 – 2004.
